You are playing a Snake and try to get as big as possible! You move in a matrix and try to collect as many blocks as possible to grow. If you bite yourself the game is over!
The Snake starts moving automatically when the game is started. You can turn left or right to move in the desired direction. To do so, different control modes can be used!
Press one of the buttons to move your Snake!
The Snake will move in the direction which the button points to.
Move your snake by swiping across the screen!
The Snake moves in the direction in which your swipe was aimed.
Play Snake like in 1997, when it was first published! This version offers features to further customize the game, but nevertheless, you can also recreate the setting of the original version.
Toggle the pixel mode option to pixel the Snake and the Apples!
Get the feeling of playing one of the very first mobile games!
Select the Buttons as Controls Mode and press them to move.
Play Snake like you were using one of those almost extinct keypad phones!
Set the difficulty of your game! Ranging from 'Very Easy' to 'Ultimate', you can determine the difficulty of your game by changing the values of different categories.
Change the size of the world, the speed of the Snake, add or remove world boundaries and switch delayed spawning on or off. Create your own difficulty level!
You can also view your High Scores and try to break them!
World Size: If you increase its value, the world gets bigger and the game more difficult.
Speed: Set the speed of the Snake. The faster it is, the higher is the difficulty level.
Spawning Delayed: If toggled on, a new apple doesn't necessarily spawn immediately after collecting one. If switches off new apples spawn instantly after collecting the current apple. Activating this option increases the difficulty.
World Boundaries: Activating the world boundaries turns scoring high in a real challenge. If activated, you can't move through the world-margins any more, touching them means losing. If this option is switched off, you can move through the world-boundaries and the Snake reappears on the other side of the world. Using world-boundaries makes the game significantly more difficult.
Customize the looks of your game. Choose traditional looks and get the feeling of playing a retro game or create your own, more modern version. Live out your creativity!
Change the looks of the game!
By toggling these options on or off you can create the design you like the most:
Show Pixels: If toggled on, the Snake and Apples are pixeled, adding nostalgic flair to the game!
Mark Snake Head: When using this option the snake-head is colored in a different shade than the other blocks of the Snake. Otherwise, they have the same color.
Show Grid Lines: If you activate the grid lines, the outlines of every square of the world are shown.
Set the color of the Snake and the Apples! You can choose one of 30 different combinations, if you unlock the Full Version even more!
Not only can you choose the Snake and Apple color, but you can also create your own customized colors for the Snake and Apples!
This is a Full Version feature.
Optimize your gameplay experience by choosing the settings you like the most! Activate sounds or vibrations, select the sounds you prefer, and choose the controls which you want to play with!
Use these options for setting the preferences which you find best:
Controls Mode: Decide how you want to navigate the Snake! You can use swipes for controlling the Snake and set the sensitivity! Or choose the buttons, alluding to the times of keypad phones. If you want to, you can even use both controls simultaneously!
Vibration: If this option is toggled on, your device vibrates when you collect apples or lose.
Sounds: If you activate this option, sounds will be played when you collect an apple or when the game is over.
Customize the sound effects! Select one of several different sound effects and make your game more personal! This is a Full Version feature.

Of course we, Strawbear Studios, developed the main part of Snake. But without the help of some others and their resources the game wouldn't be the same.
In this section we want to accredit everyone who helped to make Snake the amazing game it is. Thank you!
The sounds which add a lot of value to our Game were created on Freesound by these users:
Mattias "MATTIX" Lahoud

A catching first impression is important, and without Melvin Velhagen's amazing design of the menu our game wouldn't be as appealing as it is. The programming, development and basically everything else was done by Simon Klebel.
And at last, we want to thank all of our users for playing Snake. We are glad that you enjoy the game!
